5 Reasons Why Selling on Ebay is the Best Way to Start Making Income from Home

by Jax Woon
Firstly I would like to state that I am not saying Ebay is the best way to make money online. But I do personally feel that Ebay is the easiest place to begin with.So why is it that selling on Ebay is the best way to get started for beginners who want to earn some extra money online or even build a full fledged home business around it?

1. Getting started is easy Unlike starting a website where you need to go through the tedious and often technically daunting phase of registering for domain names, website design, search engine optimization, getting autoresponders etc, selling on ebay is much easier. All you need is to register with Ebay, get a Paypal account, a camera for taking pictures of your products and you are all on your way to getting your first sale. Make sure to check out with the local post office before hand on how much your items might cost so that you can have all these information ready when potential buyers ask about it. They will probably also sell you the boxes and packing material you will need once you close the sale.

2. Free Traffic

If you decide to start your own website then you will have to face the challenge of getting traffic. What good is having a nicely done website with the best products and services in the world when there is no one to see it? There are tons of websites that were started with the aim of making big money which ended up never being found and can only collect virtual cobwebs. So you read up and try search engine optimization, Google adwords, blogging, article marketing just to name a few. It can cost you a lot of money if not done correctly and it also takes real perseverance to see it through and most people give up when they can only get 3 or 4 visitors to their site a day. No money is made because there is too little traffic. If you can convert 10 percent of your visitors to customers who will pay then you have to ask what is 10 percent of 4 people? Nothing.

Ebay on the other hand has a healthy flow of traffic to begin with so its half the battle won already. All you need to note is to put proper titles, with the correct keywords that potential customers use to search for products and you will do fine selling on Ebay. Of course there are many more things to do to really make it big selling on Ebay but the above should be sufficient to see some sales.

3.Customers are more trusting and more likely to buy People who have bought on Ebay before are likely to buy again if they had a good first experience of buying online. Customers on Ebay are more trusting because Ebay is a familiar platform for them. Also because in any case they do not receive their products they can always file for an item not received dispute with Ebay and this idea that they are protected makes them more likely to buy.

If you start a new website, it takes more time to build a relationship with your customers before you make your first sale. Also, from the point of view of a customer visiting a site they are not familiar with, they probably won’t know what to do if they do not receive their goods from a “just another website” they found online. So to play safe they probably will not buy from you but from a reputable website that they trust. Simply put, the initial barrier is high and getting your first sale on a website is difficult compared to selling on ebay.

4. Potential for surprisingly good profit margin Unlike starting a website where you can only list your products at a fixed price, selling on Ebay grants you the option of letting buyers bid for your items. Very often you can see similar items selling for very different prices because a bidding war started on one of the auctions and drove prices up. I’m not saying that you should rely on these events to make money for they don’t happen all the time. But it is really fun to see the price of your items shoot up in the last few seconds before the auction closes. There were times when I listed an item for $0.99 and expecting it to close no more then $10 but it eventually closed at $31 because of competition between bidders. Events like this come once in a while and it adds to the fun of selling on Ebay.

Even if there are cases where buyers default on payment, probably because they regretted, you can simply file for an unpaid item dispute and get back your closing fees. You didn’t really lose anything. But chances are that they will honour their bid because people in general are honest and also because buyers who receive too many bad ratings and unpaid items strikes will be suspended from Ebay.

5. Faster Results Summarizing all of the above, you can see how it is relatively easier to start earning online income by selling on ebay. As such, it translates to faster results for beginners and this is very important. In any endeavor, nothing helps keep a person going better then seeing results fast. It’s like a person who is trying to pick up fishing. Imagine waiting hours and hours and not catching a single fish. The positive momentum wears out fast and the person soon gives up. If however he manages to catch a fish within minutes then the taste of initial success can keep him going.

Selling on Ebay is the best place to get started quickly and see some small but real results. Also, there is nothing to stop you from going one step further and taking massive action by listing more products aggressively start Ebay Stores and build up a reputation as a serious seller on Ebay to earn a full time income at home.

Basic to Advance Internet Marketing Tips - Lesson #3

LESSON #3: Is an online business right for me?

In this lesson Eric is going to tell you that NOT ANYONE can successfully run an online business.

The fact is that it takes hard work to build a business, and there are certain abilities that will greatly increase your chances of success.

Main points:

  • The startup COST for an online business is a huge variable, ranging from zero to millions. The good news is that it can be very cheap: less than $100
  • The more TIME you can devote to it the better, but don’t let a lack of time stop you. If you can only devote a small amount of time at first, that’s OK.
  • Stop buying stuff! You don’t need it. (unless you really know what you’re doing)
  • Stay out of debt! It’s not necessary to use debt to start this kind of business.
  • You need to be willing to be a marketer. If you don’t have any marketing experience, then at least:
                  a) you must be OK with marketing
                  b) you’ll need to learn it along the way
  • Same thing for technical aptitude. You DON’T need to be a computer expert, but you must be comfortable with computers and willing to learn.
